Welcome to the Margate Town Team website. The Margate Town Team was formed in May 2012. The team currently consists of 9 local people who volunteer their time to help lobby the local authority, promote and organise events, work with organisations to bring in footfall, to increase occupancy and provide a place for people to work, shop and relax.
The Margate Town Team has a clearly defined set of objectives that were specified in the original Mary Portas bid. However, the aims of the Town Team go beyond the remit of the Portas bid and therefore its objectives include these but are not limited to them. The Town Team has four overarching strategic aims:
1. To create a vibrant attractive high street through developing a food and arts culture
2. To create an identity for Margate that builds on its original heritage
3. To regenerate Margate through partnership working
4. To secure additional funding to sustain the work of the group indefinitely

VOLUNTEER MARSHALS IN SUPPORT OF EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
Volunteers needed to support us and Margate at the various events and projects for the forthcoming year. We are also keen to hear from local entertainers, community groups or traders who want to be involved in driving projects forward in the regeneration of Margate. Please contact us via the contact page on this web site or email directly
At this stage it is difficult be specific as to the nature of what will be required as we will be seeking to use the skills you have in the best possible way. It would be helpful if you could give an overview of your area of interest. Areas of support are likely (but not exclusively) gardening, Marshalling, Leaflet distribution and marketing.
As well as having a significant benefit to the community volunteers continue to be the glue that holds a community together. Volunteering allows a connection to your community to help make it a better place. Helping out with even the smallest tasks and a few hours of your time can make a real difference.
Benefit to you:
You will almost certainly learn new skills and this can even improve career opportunities.
Committing your time as a volunteer is likely to help you make new friends, expand your network and improve your social skills.
Even If you're retired or about to retire - being active can protect your mental and physical health.
Contact Margate Town Team today. Tell us a little about yourself and how you might be able to help.
